I've been here a number of times and I'm never disappointed! Its a great place to bring friends to try something delicious and unique. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. I was there on a recent Saturday evening at 5:30 and had to wonder, though, why the hostess felt compelled to inform me that my table was booked at 7:30. It felt rather rude and unwelcoming. Let me start off by first saying the portions are generous and the food is delicious (especially the general tao chicken which is the perfect amount of spicy and sweet). The service was great and made sure we were enjoying our meal. As a resident of Aurora, I (like the previous reviewer) used to need to go south to either Richmond Hill or Markham before I get a taste of authentic Chinese food but now that I have discovered a local gem I am highly impressed. I only had a cupcake as I had already eaten when I stumbled upon this place during the Sound of Music Festival in the summer but it was a great first impression. I had a Dulche de Leche Cupcake that was really tasty- not overly sweet. It was not very light and fluffy, but maybe this is the norm for dulce de leche cupcakes? Anyway, it was a very impressive cupcake being gluten free and vegan! I think I remember it was ever sugar-free? The place itself is very cute (so colourful!) and the staff was very friendly. Superb service and food make this place somewhere to return again and again. Very attentive staff, excellent Italian dishes. I had the piping hot Minestrone vegetable soup and fresh fish of the day. The others had pasta or beef tenderloin. Everyone loved their meals. My only complaint was that my fish was to come with roasted potatoes and vegetables, but there was only one small half of a potato. Other than that, everything else was great, including dessert. One of my family's perennial haunts. We stumbled upon it while looking for a meal the night before a vacation, and now it is one of our favourite restaurants. Our usual order consists of 2 tofu satays with roti, one tofu mee goreng, and one hakka chow mein, but we also love Thai curry. Theirs (red and green) are both excellent. The only troubling bit is the music in the background. When it isn't reimagined version of pop songs (a bit repetitive), it's CHFI, the local adult contemporary radio station (complete with advertisements; a joy at Christmas). Made a reservation online, probably a good idea, heard it was a busy spot. We were late for our reservation but they honored it. And it was packed. I had the special, can't remember the type of beef but it was one of the best hamburgers I've ever had, and the poutine was also amazing. My girl had the turkey burger and sweet potato fries and she loved it. We also had the Pickle Fries (good) as a starter and two pints of beer, bill with tip was around $80. Last week we had to organize a sudden meeting for our project with US clients. Due to lack of time we missed out planning for lunch but thanks to my ‘Opentable’ app Grilled Atlantic Salmon, Chicken Parmigianino, Spring Lamb with red wine that I found Carmelina Restaurant in Woodbine Avenue. Their event catering service for lunch & evening snacks made me & my team proud on my decision. I wonder how I missed looking this food place for last many years. Thank you Abbas for your cooperation & on-time food catering service with delicious Italian food as our guests loved it. Upon discovering this place, I have been at least once a week either for a pot of tea, a quick lunch or a dinner with my partner. The atmosphere is relaxed and not rushed - the dining room is relatively small so service is able to see when you are in need of anything. Everything on the menu is vegetarian and so full of flavor! Sometimes restaurants will just give you the meat version without the meat and that will be their vegetarian options but here you get treated to refined and practiced vegetarian dishes. If you want a Family atmosphere and feel like you belong this is the place to go. We didnt want to leave as it felt so right to be there. We will always go back there. We went there for nice dinner during winterlisious 2012. Overall restaurant is very busy but cozy and romantic. Our server was running around in hurry and as a result during entire evening mixed up who ordered what, since it was only two of us it was ok to switch. Food Overall was very good: My appetizer was yumm and so is my the other person, soft deep fried calamari was excellent. Chicken skewers were moist and sauce was perfectly spicy. For the main dish disappointment arrived, all main dishes come with rice and stir fry. Stir fry was the WORST I have ever tried, super hard giant pieces of cabbage+ raw zucchini made it unpleasant both on taste and texture. Main dish of red curry was excellent and rice was perfectly done. Basil beef was amazing (properly the softest piece of beef I have ever tried in my life). This is truly one of the best Mexican restaurants around. The atmosphere is simple and as stated in other reviews, the seating is limited. The service was relatively fast and pleasant.
